At 5:30am that morning I got the text that a pipe had leaked in the baptismal and all the water had flooded the Sanctuary. The maintenance team grabbed fans and towels and began trying to dry out the carpet in that area. But what about baptism? We had 8 people ready to go. As we gathered for prayer before service, Pastor Judy asked, “What about a kiddie pool?” One thing led to another until our outdoor fountain was chosen.
Sometimes you plan everything just right and then a pipe leaks. But God can take a leaky pipe, a serpent’s bite (Acts 28) or a crowd of people with nothing to eat but a little boy’s lunch (Matthew 14) and work a miracle. Sunday’s baptism service, though simple and messy, felt beautifully miraculous.
